“Advent: The Art, Music, and Poetry of the Season”
Room 65/66
Advent, as the first season of the Christian year, has been observed for centuries as a time to contemplate Christ’s birth. In the hurry and flurry of the holiday season, it is easy to miss the essence of Christmas. Advent presents us with the opportunity to “become mindful of how Christ’s birth took place.” Advent marks God’s coming into our midst. That coming is not just something that happened in the past. It is a recurring possibility here and now. Thus – Advent is not merely a commemorative event, but a yearly opportunity for us to consider the future, second Advent—the promised coming of God’s kingdom on earth. Advent means “coming.” So—come, explore the coming of Christ through the art, music, and poetry of the season.
